Gloria Dei upholds its long commitment to our youth and youth ministry, maintaining its Youth Director position as a significant part of our ongoing staff. Our statement of purpose, "Caring, Growing, Serving," extends to our concern for the next generation of church leaders in this and other places. It is our intent to continue training up leaders, growing them in the faith, and giving them opportunity to serve in our midst and in the community around us.
Our Youth Director is responsible for all Jr. and Sr. high youth programming, with weekly meetings, Sunday school class, fellowship opportunities and an annual youth trip, which rotates between church camping experiences (such as Kidder Creek in Nor Cal) and work camps (primarily through Group Youth Ministry), where our youth serve communities in many different ways. We have travelled to work on a Native American reservation in Montana, in inner city Denver and San Diego, as well as to Tecate, Mexico. Our alternate camping years have provided opportunity for, along with great Christian teaching and music, white water rafting, sailing, backcountry hiking and experiences on High ropes courses, among other things.
Our youth attended the Christ In Youth event in July of this year...check out the video below for some of the trip highlights.
