CONVALESCENT home

Facilitating our stated mission, of caring, growing, serving, the Convalescent Home Ministry under the leadership of Eva Duffy is a great example of serving God by serving others by being a part of a Sunday afternoon worship at Life House East San Jose Healthcare Services at 180 N Jackson Ave, San Jose CA 95116, for more than 25 years.

The name of the facility has changed more than once however, the mission of Gloria Dei remains the same; that is, to give the opportunity to the residents to share the joy of the Lord as believers gather in the name of Jesus Christ to sing, pray, and share the Word of God from the Holy Bible and to invite the non-believers into the community of Faith as Jesus has commanded believers to do.

The participants in the service may be in wheel-chairs and reclining bed-chairs; they often use walkers or canes. We use use paperback song books and some worshippers need help to turn pages or find their way to a hymn in the song books. Residents may be physically weak but the volunteers see the strong faith God provides these chosen ones in the midst of difficult circumstances as volunteers and residents worship God together.

The worship service is each Sunday afternoon for about one hour beginning at 2:30 PM. As we go to worship and leave again we are reminded of Colossians 3:15-17, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
